{"id":3602,"date":"2013-07-01T09:55:21","date_gmt":"2013-07-01T08:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.globaldoor.co.uk\/news\/?p=1852"},"modified":"2013-07-01T09:55:21","modified_gmt":"2013-07-01T08:55:21","slug":"ce-marking-and-the-facts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.globaldoor.co.uk\/blog\/2013\/07\/01\/ce-marking-and-the-facts\/","title":{"rendered":"CE Marking and the facts"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>CE Marking a mark you can trust<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Every Global Door carries a CE Marking and has done so for some time because we care for our customers and want them to have complete peace of mind when they buy a new door.When you purchase from our extensive<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> range you will be provided with all of the documentation to prove your product complies and is approved for CE marking<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 1.17em;\">So why is CE Marking so important?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>July 2013 brings with it the dawn of a new era in the sale of Doors and Windows, no longer will the customer be left wondering regarding the quality of the product which they have purchased, the proof of the quality has to be there for all to see, displayed as a CE marking on all products.<\/p>\n<p>From 1<sup>st<\/sup> July 2013 it will be mandatory for all doors and windows sold and installed in the UK to display a CE marking in order to show compliance with the new Construction Products Regulations for building products which replaces the previous legislation, the Construction Products Directive. The responsibility for compliance with this new legislation falls with the manufacturers, suppliers and installers of doors and windows as the legislation requires that it is they who accept responsibility for compliance with the new rules and ensure that only CE marked product is sold and installed from 1<sup>st<\/sup> July. The new legislation is in fact so stringent that any company failing to comply could fall foul of the serious consequences of fines or possibly imprisonment should they be convicted of trading outside of these new regulations. This is particularly relevant in the case of doors and windows where a breach of the key element of \u201csecurity \u201can element subject to testing to achieve the CE mark is considered a major breach.<\/p>\n<p>So what is CE marking and how does it benefit the customer \u2013 the basic key points \u2013<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The letters &#8220;<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>CE<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8221; are the abbreviation of French phrase &#8220;<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>C<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">onformit\u00e9 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>E<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">urop\u00e9ene&#8221; which literally means &#8220;European Conformity&#8221;. The term initially used was &#8220;EC Mark&#8221; and it was officially replaced by &#8220;CE Marking in 1993.\u201dCE Marking&#8221; is now used in all EU official documents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">CE Marking on a product is a manufacturer&#8217;s declaration that the product complies with the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>essential requirements<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> of the relevant European health, safety and environmental protection legislation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">CE Marking on a product indicates to governmental officials that the product may be <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>legally placed on the market<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> in their country. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">CE Marking on a product ensures the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>free movement of the product<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> within the EFTA &amp; European Union (EU) single market (total 28 countries), and <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">CE Marking on a product permits the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>withdrawal of the non-conforming products<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> by customs and enforcement\/vigilance authorities<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The full official guidelines can be found <a title=\"CE marking official manufacturing regulations\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/ce-marking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here\u00a0<\/a>on the government&#8217;s website<\/p>\n<p>So what does it mean to the customer, in the simplest of terms the product is what it says it is and when sold as a complete unit all component parts are in compliance with current European Legislation, so the customer can purchase secure in the knowledge that the product has complied with the relevant standard required by the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation refers to complete components \u2013 in respect of a Global Door \u2013 door\/ frame \/ glass &amp;
