The\u201d extra\u201d engraving was carried out by artist Graham Short who came up with the idea of engraving a 5mm portrait of Pride and Prejudice author Austen on the transparent part of the new plastic Bank of England \u00a35 notes to mark the 200th anniversary of Austen’s death next year. The actual whereabouts of the notes is not known but we do know where they were launched into circulation \u2013<\/p>\n

Each of the Jane Austen portraits is engraved with a different quotation from one of her novels<\/p>\n
